This is one of the most effective ways to reduce waste in your school. As EcoMarines ambassadors, you can help to educate and remind people why it's important to bring waste-free lunches.
1. Waste-free alternatives:
Organise a clean up of the school, and collect data using our Waste Data Collection Sheet. Present a summary at assembly and in the school newsletter... what were the most commonly littered items, and where was the most rubbish? Based on the results, you can suggest some creative waste-free alternatives!
2. Newsletter feature:
Each school newsletter include a statistic about waste, a fact about an interesting creature found in Moreton Bay, and a suggestion on how households can reduce their waste. Click here for some great facts, and check out the downloads on this page for some wrapper-free suggestions.
3. Talk to tuck shop:
How could your tuckshop be more eco-friendly? Brainstorm ideas and send a friendly letter to the tuckshop staff or arrange a meeting. You could even offer to help them with searching for eco-friendly alternatives!
4. Get your parents on board:
If your parents pack your lunch, then why not help them out and let them know about ways to pack a waste free lunch? We have created a helpful information sheet for you to share with your parents. It is full of low-cost, low-waste options and fun recipe ideas!
Leakproof compartment lunchboxes, and a portion of profits are donated back to your school!
