Port of Brisbane is one of Australia’s fastest growing container ports, and Queensland’s largest multi-cargo port.

They are based at the mouth of the Brisbane river overlooking beautiful Moreton Bay (Quandamooka Country).

Ambassadors and support crew students will absolutely love their excursion to Port of Brisbane learning about sediment, seagrass, mangroves, shorebirds, energy efficient buildings, operations of the port, and more!

How It Works

Step 1

If you are located within a 1 hour drive of port, they provide a free bus service to pick up/drop off up to 23 guests. Otherwise, alternative transport will need to be organised for the guests.

Step 2

VIP tour with Port of Brisbane's environment team.  Learn about mangroves, shorebirds, reclamation, storm water, container handling and more. Make sure you take lots of photos!

Step 3

Once the tour has finished, you will have a lunch with the Environment Team, discuss what you saw and brainstorm ideas. Figure out what you want to include in your PowerPoint presentation (or video) to educate the rest of your school. We encourage you to present at assembly or prepare a presentation that can be emailed to other students. We also encourage you to do a write up an article for your school newsletter!

Step 4

If you are within the 1 hour drive from port, and you are doing a presentaion to other students, the Port Of Brisbane environmental officer will attend your assembly to help the ambassadors do their presentation on stage teaching the rest of the school what they learnt!

How To Organise

Get in touch with Kylie to organise:

  1. Date to visit Port of Brisbane

  2. Date for Port of Brisbane to visit your school assembly post-tour

Kylie will also need to know:

  • any dietary requirements/special needs

  • numbers attending (children and adults). It is up to the school how many adults attend with students
